Claiming a Prize 

   

Congratulations, you’ve won! Now what?

 

    1. Sign your ticket

Sign your name on the front of the ticket and fill out the back of your ticket. This proves that you’re the rightful owner of the ticket and protects you against loss or theft.

If you bought the ticket as a group, all group members or the group trustee must sign it. The trustee must write their name on the ticket and “In a group of X people.”

Claiming a prize online is quick, safe and easy to do!#


You can claim prizes ranging from $600.01 to $50,000 and gifts online.

To process your prize claim more quickly, we’ve added two new payment methods: Interac e-Transfer Autodeposit, Direct Deposit and deposit into the lotoquebec.com account (to use this payment method, you must have linked your bank account to your lotoquebec.com account.) Payment by cheque is still possible, but it takes longer.

Check your ticket using the online ticket checker or Loto-Québec app to determine if your prize can be claimed online. If you can claim your prize online, you’ll see a blue box inviting you to start the prize claim process.
 

🛈 Important

No matter your ticket type, make sure to:

  • Sign your ticket (on the front),
  • Fill out the back (first and last names, address and phone number).

You cannot file a group claim online (except if it’s a Formule groupe or Formule super groupe ticket).

Keep the original ticket for at least 12 months after a prize claimed online has been paid.

Filing an Individual Claim #

At a retail location 

For prizes of $600 or less, you can claim your prize at any Loto-Québec retail location.  

Tip: Always check with the retailer if they have enough funds to pay the prize before you have them validate your ticket. Once they validate the ticket, they’re the one who must pay out the prize.

2. If you can claim your prize online, you’ll see a blue box inviting you to start the prize claim process.

At a Loto-Québec prize claim office

Bring your original winning ticket and make sure it’s signed and filled out: 

  • You’ve signed your name on the front of the ticket.
  • You’ve filled out the back of your ticket (with your full name, address and phone number).

 

By mail* 

Tip: Try claiming your prize online to benefit from faster payment methods. Processing mailed-in prize claims takes approximately 20 business days, whereas online claims can take up to 5 business days.

Before you send in your prize claim, photocopy or take photos of the front and back of your ticket. 

  1. Make sure your ticket is signed and filled out: 
    • You’ve signed your name on the front of the ticket. 
    • You’ve filled out the back of your ticket (with your full name, address and phone number). 

  2. Mail us your original winning ticket (preferably) by registered mail to:

Filing a Group Claim #

At a retail location

Shared prizes of $600 or less are paid to the group trustee, who then distributes the shares to each group member. The prize can be claimed at any Loto-Québec retail location.

Tip: Always check with the retailer if they have enough funds to pay the prize before you have them validate your ticket. Once they validate the ticket, they’re the one who must pay out the prize.

Shared prizes under $2,000 are paid to the group trustee, who then distributes the shares to each group member.

Only you, as the group trustee, need to present yourself with the original winning ticket signed and filled out: 

  • You’ve signed your name on the front of the ticket.
  • You’ve filled out the back of your ticket (with your full name, address and phone number).
  • “Group of X people” is written on the back.

Prepare your prize claim

If each group member has won less than $2,000:

  1. Make sure your ticket is signed and filled out:
    • You’ve signed your name on the front of the ticket.
    • You’ve filled out the back of your ticket (with your full name, address and phone number).
    • “Group of X people” is written on the back.
  2. Include the Group Play Agreement.

If at least one member of the group has won $2,000 or more, you must also provide the following for each member:

  1. The Lottery Prize Claim Form [PDF - 112 KB] filled out. This form is also available at retail locations.
  2. A legible photo or photocopy (front and back) of one piece of valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s licence, health insurance card or passport).

 

At Loto-Québec’s head office in Montréal

Carefully follow the instructions above to prepare your prize claim.

Bring the original winning ticket, group play agreement form, prize claim forms and valid IDs of all group members who have won $2,000 or more. Group members who are absent on the day the prizes are claimed will receive their cheques by mail.

You can claim your gift online and have it delivered to your address of choice. To claim your gift online: 

1. Go to the online ticket checker page and enter the control number on your ticket, or check your ticket via the Loto-Québec app. 

2. If you can claim your prize online, you’ll see a blue box inviting you to start the prize claim process. 

Click on the “Claim My Prize” button in the text box and follow the steps to claim your prize. It’s as simple as that!

The rightful owner of a lottery ticket purchased at a retail location must sign the ticket before getting it validated.

By signing your ticket, you prove that you’re the rightful owner. This protects you against loss or theft. When a winning ticket is submitted to Loto-Québec, the prize is always paid to the rightful ticket owner. The name initially written on the ticket will be taken into account.

Try to keep your ticket devoid of any cross-outs or marks, as this could lead to further checks at the prize claim stage.

Signing a ticket purchased as a group

To be validated, tickets purchased as a group must be signed by all group members and the group trustee. The group trustee must write their name and “In a group of X people” on the ticket and provide the Group Play Agreement.

Formule groupe

A ticket purchased with Formule groupe allows its owner to validate and independently claim any associated prize. Each Formule groupe group member must, therefore, sign their own ticket.

A winning ticket must be validated via the control number on the ticket; otherwise, no prize can be paid out. As such, you must always show your ticket to claim your prize.

An illegible, mutilated, altered, counterfeit, improperly cut, improperly printed, incomplete, erroneously produced or otherwise defective ticket is void unless Loto Québec can determine through the control number that the ticket won the claimed prize.

For draw-based lottery games, the prize claim deadline is one year from the draw date shown on the ticket. For scratch tickets, please refer to the Prize Claim Deadlines Table.

The law prohibits the sale of lottery products to minors, and Loto-Québec’s policy is not to award prizes to anyone under 18. Anyone claiming a prize may be asked for proof of age before receiving their prize.

Any prize won by a minor must be paid to the minor’s guardian. Loto-Québec reserves the right to suspend payment of the prize until proof of legal guardianship has been provided. In such a case, Loto-Québec will withhold the prize until the name of the legal guardian is provided.

The above rules apply even if a minor and adult sign a ticket. The portion of the prize won by the adult will be paid, whereas the minor’s portion will be withheld.

For group-play tickets (i.e., Formule groupe and Formule super groupe tickets), the prize claim process is the same as with an individual ticket, as each group member holds a valid ticket indicating the number of shares they purchased. As such, they may have their ticket validated and claim their share of the prize independently of other group members.

Group-play ticket holders may claim cash prizes between $600.01 and $50,000 online.

To claim a prize won with a ticket purchased in another province, follow the instructions on the back of the ticket or contact the concerned lottery corporation.

For legal reasons, we can only mail prizes to Canadian addresses. If you live outside Canada, please call us at 1-866-611-5686 or email us at service_clientele@loto-quebec.com.

If you’d like to receive your quick-play game winnings before the draw date indicated on the original ticket, sign the ticket and bring it to a retailer. They will pay you and give you back your original ticket and a replacement ticket valid for the same draw. The replacement ticket will state that you were paid your quick-play game winnings. Be sure to keep the replacement ticket. If you win a prize in the draw, you’ll need this ticket to claim that prize.

*Prize claimants assume all risks associated with sending in their tickets by mail (loss, delay, etc.) and acknowledge that, in such cases, processing their prize payment could be delayed.
